Job Summary

We are looking for part-time Baristas to join our growing team at Mothership Coffee! As a Barista you will be taking orders, preparing and serving hot and cold beverages with exceptionally trained skill, and serving select food items to our guests. In this role you will educate guests on the drink menu, make recommendations based on the customer's preferences, and up-sell special menu items. The ideal barista loves to engage with their coworkers and customers.


Duties/Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages to guests, such as: coffee, and tea; correctly customizes orders as requested.
• Describes product details to guests when requested.
• Receives and processes guest payments.
• Serves prepared foods and baked goods including sandwiches, muffins, or bagels.
• Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.
• Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
• Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.
• Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating components by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
• Stocks supplies or retail products; may be required to manage inventory orders, or receive products as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
• Must be able to perform basic math.
• Ability to serve guests quickly, efficiently, and kindly.
• Reliable method of transportation

Education and Experience

• Worked as a Barista or in food service is a plus.
• High School students welcome
• Training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be available to work either early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• We build your schedule around your life - school, side projects, creative work, and commitments come first. This is a part-time role by design, averaging 10-15 hours per week, and we mean that as a feature. Team members requesting additional hours above 15 per week are required to complete a Mothership Hours Commitment Letter, subject to store manager and COO approval
