Public Health Nurse I - Limited Service

The Public Health Nurse is a local immunization expert and resource for medical practices, schools, childcare providers, and the public in Newport District Office. The focus of this position is to conduct quality improvement visits to healthcare providers enrolled in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, training them in immunization best practices and working with them to increase vaccine coverage rates. Duties also include oversight of the local district office vaccine program, including vaccine ordering, management, and vaccine administration; leading office and community vaccination clinics for community members who have limited access to care; and working collaboratively with colleagues and community partners to identify immunization gaps and disparities.

This position, Public Health Nurse I - Limited Service, is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Minimum qualifications include an associate's degree in nursing and two or more years of professional nursing experience, or a bachelor of science in nursing, or college senior in the final semester of a bachelor's degree in nursing program. Possession of, or eligibility for, licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont is required.
