A dynamic, multi-generational family enterprise in Austin, TX, is seeking a Director, Single Family Office for a newly created leadership role. This position will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to a family principal, overseeing the coordination and execution of governance, financial, legal, and operational matters across a sophisticated private portfolio.

The Director will act as a key liaison between the Principal, Head of Family Office, and a network of internal and external advisors, ensuring seamless alignment across business, investment, estate, and real estate activities. This is a highly visible role requiring exceptional discretion, sound judgment, and the ability to operate strategically while managing complex details with precision.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Strategic Advisory

  • Lead governance coordination for trusts, entities, philanthropic initiatives, and related structures.
  • Advise the Principal on wealth structuring, fiduciary matters, real estate transactions, and family governance considerations.
  • Partner closely with the Head of Family Office to maintain alignment with enterprise-wide governance, compliance, and documentation standards.
  • Facilitate planning and strategy discussions with legal, tax, investment, and advisory partners.
  • Uphold the family’s values around stewardship, privacy, continuity, and long-term planning.

Legal, Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Coordinate execution of contracts, trust documentation, entity formation, and complex transactions alongside legal, tax, and accounting advisors.
  • Oversee governance records, ownership structures, compliance requirements, and critical filing deadlines.
  • Support budgeting, liquidity planning, cash flow forecasting, and consolidated reporting in partnership with the accounting team.
  • Assist with due diligence, asset structuring, and ongoing administrative oversight across a multi-entity environment.

Real Estate & Asset Management

  • Manage transactional and operational coordination for a diverse real estate portfolio, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and capital projects.
  • Collaborate with brokers, attorneys, lenders, and advisors to ensure transactions align with strategic, financial, and tax objectives.
  • Maintain oversight of insurance, title, and ownership documentation across holdings.
  • Engage and manage third-party service providers and subject matter experts as needed.

Relationship & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a central point of coordination between the Principal and internal corporate functions, including Legal, Finance, Accounting, and IT.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with external advisors, consultants, and professional partners.
  • Represent the Principal with the highest level of professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Ensure consistent communication, accountability, and follow-through across all stakeholders.

Strategic Planning & Long-Term Continuity

  • Support long-term strategic initiatives related to investments, governance, philanthropy, and generational planning.
  • Translate complex legal and financial information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, communication, and alignment across the Principal’s portfolio and initiatives.
  • Anticipate evolving priorities and proactively support the family’s long-term objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD, MBA, or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 10–15 years of experience within a family office, private enterprise, fiduciary advisory, or related environment.
  • Deep knowledge of trusts and estates, entity governance, real estate transactions, and complex contract administration.
  • Strong financial and legal acumen with experience navigating sophisticated multi-entity structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage highly confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative, polished, and solutions-oriented leadership style.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed in support of the Principal and family office initiatives.
