Payroll Administrator

Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Payroll Administrator position. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing payroll for all payroll cycles, calculating payroll liabilities, and filing applicable Federal, State, and Local tax reports. This role requires complex payroll account analysis and advanced knowledge of internal policies and external regulations. The position reports to the Senior Accountant, Disbursement Management. This position has been approved for a flexible work option arrangement. Flexible work options can be ended at any time by the College, Cabinet, or supervisors based on employee performance or changes in institutional needs. Credit history check is required before starting on the first day. Essential Knowledge & Skills Education/Training/Work Experience Associate’s degree (or credit equivalent) is required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related area is highly preferred. At least two years of relevant payroll experience is required. Proficiency in MS Office; advanced Excel skills required. Excellent communication, written and oral, required. Experience in a college or university environment is highly preferred. Specialized Knowledge & Skills Customer service skills required. Analytical and problem-solving skills required. Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision required. Ability to work with departmental leadership. Attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to prioritize workload and multi-task. Ability to use considerable discretion/judgment and self-directed decision-making. Ability to work within a team-oriented setting. Ability to work with other departments to look at processes and make changes. Ability to work with others to find solutions to problems.
