Job Description

The Unit Secretary functions under the supervision of the Surgical Services Manager. Performs assignments given by the Surgical Services Manager, charge RNs, or Nursing Supervisor. Assists in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities occurring in the department. Enters physician orders; performs clerical and receptionist duties; answers telephone; runs errands; maintains the physical environment; orders nursing station supplies, particularly all chart forms; assists with special projects and helps design audit tools and statistical studies; and inputs computer data for reports, care management, and other nursing and pharmacy topics. Demonstrates behavior practices that reflect the philosophy and mission of our sponsors, Providence Health and Services, our founders, the Dominican Sisters, and Providence Mount Carmel Hospital's Standards of Conduct.

Required Qualifications

  • Recent experience with Word Perfect/Word software programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Unit Secretary.
  • Data entry experience.
  • 1 year Secretarial experience.
