Overview The RN Oncology Infusion Therapy Clinician functions under the direction of the Manager Infusion Therapy or other designated leader. The clinician demonstrates knowledge, competency, and clinical expertise in oncology infusion therapy, including hazardous drug therapies for treating malignant and nonmalignant conditions. The RN regularly administers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies. The clinician works in an outpatient infusion center, with alternate settings possible. The RN is responsible for providing safe patient care with an understanding of age‑appropriate and culturally aware needs, addressing biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs, and delivering care in complex situations. The RN serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff, participates in staff meetings, in‑services, special projects, and continued education, and may serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues. Local travel is required; float staff will be required to float between Cobb Hospital HODs based on need, all sites within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital. Responsibilities Exemplary Practice and Outcomes Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice. Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that adapts to population‑specific characteristics and cultural diversity. Partner with patients and significant others, using appropriate teaching methods and keeping patient goals central to the plan of care. Practice current clinical standards for chemotherapy and targeted therapies for malignant and nonmalignant conditions. Meet annual requirements for chemotherapy competence. Teamwork and Collaboration Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, supporting inclusive interdisciplinary communication. Demonstrate teamwork, fiscal responsibility, and support recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. Participate in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all system levels. Professional Development and Initiative Complete all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education. Serve as preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses, staff, or students across disciplines. Engage in continuing education, earn or maintain a specialty oncology certification, or obtain at least 12 continuing education credits annually. Evidence‑Based Practice and Research Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including value analysis. Uphold all system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including TJC Patient Safety Goals and WellStar Health Systems safety absolutes. Participate in data collection, formulate relevant clinical questions, consult experts, and use evidence to address practice questions. Resources and Support Plan for patient care across the continuum during direct patient care. Participate in development of protocols and procedures, collaborating with care managers and team members to achieve best practice outcomes. Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources. Requirements To qualify for this position, candidates must hold a current RN license in the state of Georgia, demonstrate knowledge of oncology infusion therapy, be familiar with hazardous drug handling, and possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.
