Job Title: Rehabilitation Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Rehabilitation Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Varied Shifts Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year preferred License: Current RN license required Certifications: Basic Life Support certification required Must-Have: Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge preferred or acquired prior to completion of orientation Description: The primary position will be in the Rehabilitation unit. The traveler will float to Med/Surg if not needed in Rehabilitation. Renders professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital and carries out orders placed by the provider responsible for the patient's medical care. Provides comprehensive clinical documentation, including care plans, each shift. Seeks feedback regarding practice and takes appropriate actions. Communicates patient information appropriately for continuity and safe care through bedside shift report, multidisciplinary rounds, and hourly rounding. Complies with achieving unit-specific competencies and requirements. Completes all learning modules within the identified timeframe. Helps to promote a culture of well-being, such as decreasing alarm fatigue. Promotes a positive atmosphere within the department each shift. Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by following established procedures and protocols. Identifies and assists in the correction of patient care safety issues. Works within guidelines to promote error reporting and the adoption of safe practices. Assures issues are addressed through appropriate use of the chain of command. Participates in daily unit-based safety huddles. Maintains knowledge and understanding of the organization's overall strategic plan. Remains up to date with unit-based nurse-sensitive indicators. Actively participates in quality initiatives and performance improvement to enhance patient outcomes. Collaborates with nurses in other departments to draw upon expertise in other clinical areas. Seeks opportunities to assist all team members. Develops and implements performance goals based on self-assessment and performance feedback. Ensures patient education materials are culturally competent. Serves as a preceptor for new nurses. Participates in survey readiness efforts. Demonstrates practice consistent with the principles of shared governance and the philosophy of the organization. Assists with solution identification in response to problems and conflicts. Effectively delegates aspects of care and unit activities to other nursing personnel. Collaborates in planning, supervising, and instructing other nurses and assistants. Works collaboratively with nursing students and instructors. Participates in peer feedback processes of annual reviews. Demonstrates characteristics of a supportive work environment with a commitment to coworkers and holding peers accountable. Manages use of earned time off per policy. Completes dysrhythmia course prior to completion of orientation, required for telemetry-based departments. Maintains current nursing licensure and certifications required for the position. Other duties may be assigned as consistent with this role.
