Vehicle Operator – Data Collection (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location : Sunnyvale, CA
Pay : $28.00/hour
Schedule : Full-Time (30–40 hours weekly)
Work Environment: On-site

OVERVIEW

We are seeking safety-focused and tech-savvy Vehicle Operators to support autonomous vehicle data collection and testing operations in Sunnyvale, CA.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong driving awareness, operational discipline, technical troubleshooting ability, and experience working in fast-paced environments. Operators will support real-world testing initiatives by driving company vehicles, monitoring vehicle systems, collecting operational data, and providing detailed feedback to engineering teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate test vehicles safely while following all traffic laws and safety procedures
• Drive 4–8 hours daily on predefined testing and data collection routes
• Monitor vehicle systems and remain alert during all operations
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and readiness checks
• Conduct basic software and system operations to support data collection activities
• Document observations, anomalies, road events, and system performance accurately
• Assist with troubleshooting sensors, cameras, hardware, and operational systems when needed
• Collaborate closely with engineers and operations teams to improve vehicle performance and testing quality
• Support vehicle logistics, maintenance coordination, charging, storage, and deployment activities
• Maintain a distraction-free, safety-focused operating environment at all times

AVAILABLE SHIFTS

AM Shift Options:
• 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM: Wed–Sun | Thurs–Mon | Sat–Wed

PM Shift Options:
• 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM: Tue–Sat | Wed–Sun | Thurs–Mon | Fri–Tue | Sat–Wed | Sun–Thu

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong driving experience with clean driving habits
• Ability to remain focused and attentive for extended periods
• Comfortable operating vehicles in varying road and traffic conditions
• Experience using navigation tools, mobile applications, and operational technology
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
• Comfortable with basic technical troubleshooting and software operations
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed operational procedures

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Autonomous vehicle operations or testing experience
• Data collection or field operations experience
• Ride-share or professional driving experience (Uber, Lyft, delivery, etc.)
• Experience with Linux or command-line environments
• Experience troubleshooting sensors, hardware, cameras, or technical systems
• Military, motorsports, fleet operations, dispatch, QA testing, or safety-sensitive operational experience
