Infrastructure Manager

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital

Position Summary At Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, the Infrastructure Manager is a valuable member of our team, who will provide Level 3 support for all aspects of the systems infrastructure including hardware, firmware, and hypervisor, all Windows and Linux systems, storage systems and share management, data center support, OS patching, and troubleshooting of daily tickets. Qualified candidates will possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. They will be a team player with the ability to work independently. Responsibilities Migration assessment and planning for infrastructure centralization with partner hospitals. Partner with application owners to facilitate the migration of application. Management and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux physical/virtual servers. Management of Netscalers and load balancers. Azure Arc management including Infrastructure as Code deployments. Asset Management for all Stony Brook Medicine supported servers. Work with other engineers to upgrade the current environments to vendor supported versions (ie. Windows 2012 to 2025, RHEL 7 to 9, VMware 6.7 to 8.x). Assist with implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system, including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management. Assist with backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space. Assist in the management of the Citrix XenApp environment. This includes troubleshooting connectivity issues and provisioning new servers. Assist in the day-to-day management of the Data Center, including server racking and new rack installs. Assist with testing new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact. Assist with development and documentation of technical processes and procedures as needed. Develop comprehensive recovery documentation for systems infrastructure. Maintain a highly secure system through proper configuration and system access monitoring. Provide timely response and follow-up for day-to-day Help Desk tickets and support issues. Required Experience and Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree AND three (3) years’ experience in Systems Administration (supporting VMWare/Hyper‑V, Active Directory and Windows/Linux OS support) OR in lieu of a Degree, six (6) years related experience in medium/large enterprise (over 1,000 computers). Experience with Cloud technology platforms. Working knowledge of Citrix. Working knowledge of Data Centers. Working knowledge of Server Virtualization. Working knowledge of multi‑site datacenters, networking concepts like DNS, firewall, DHCP etc. Possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. Work both collaboratively with team and customers while also being able to work independently. Ability to write and/or edit scripts. Physical Demands Must have the ability to sit at a desk and work in front of a computer for long periods of time. Special Notes Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke‑free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises. All Hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. This function/position may be designated as “essential.” This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital and related facilities. Anticipated Pay Range The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Pre‑Employment Requirements Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services. Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references. Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen. Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings. Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s). Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer. The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
