Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Start Date: 06/29/2026 Duration: 6 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in St. Louis, MO where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. Minimum Requirements: Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program. Current state Respiratory Therapist license in good standing with the Missouri licensing board. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required. Minimum 2 years of adult critical care respiratory experience required. BLS certification required. ACLS certification preferred. Experience with ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and care for ARDS and pneumonia patients required. Competence with airway management devices, suctioning, aerosol setup (mask/trach), metered dose inhalers, and nebulizers required. ABG interpretation, drawing arterial blood gases, and basic EKG interpretation required. Medication administration experience required. Familiarity with Pyxis medication system preferred. EPIC experience preferred. First-time travel clinicians accepted. Weekend requirement: every third weekend required. Locals within a 75-mile radius are not accepted. Assignment Details Facility type: Hospital (30-bed MICU, 10-bed Cardiac ICU, Emergency Department; not a trauma center). Primary specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist. Shift name: Nights. Shift schedule: Night 3x12-hour, 18:00 - 06:30. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. On-call: No. Floating: Clinician will not be required to float to other facilities. Team size: Approximately 5–7 therapists per night shift. Location Highlights St. Louis offers a mix of urban cultural attractions and outdoor recreation within short drives. The Missouri Botanical Garden is a well-known attraction about 10–15 minutes from downtown and features extensive conservatories and seasonal events. For weekend outdoor options, Castlewood State Park and the Meramec River are roughly 30–45 minutes away and offer hiking, fishing, and canoeing for an adventurous lifestyle. Public transit is available via MetroLink and MetroBus, connecting downtown, airport access, and surrounding suburbs for an urban commute.
