Pediatric Intensivist Opportunity in Flagstaff, Arizona

We are actively seeking to fill two full-time intensivist roles, complementing our existing full-time intensivist with locum support. This is a chance to step into a Medical Director position as well.

Staffing Model

• Three Pediatric Intensivists share coverage evenly, with full-time responsibilities averaging around 10 24-hour shifts monthly.
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (with specialized PICU training) are available on-site 24/7.
• Nurse Practitioners handle the first call for all patients.
• Intensivists are able to take calls from home.

The Unit

• A 14-bed unit that combines PICU and pediatric care, featuring all private rooms that are PICU-capable.
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioners primarily manage documentation and orders.
• Both Nurse Practitioners and Intensivists collaborate in patient care across the PICU and pediatric floor.
• We boast a highly skilled nursing staff, along with respiratory and various therapy specialists (physical, speech, and occupational).
• Our facility serves a diverse and extensive catchment area, being the only PICU in northern Arizona, catering to the Grand Canyon, Navajo Nation, and surrounding mountain regions.
• We are a Level 1 Trauma Center with active surgical services, including neurosurgery, ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, and trauma.
• All ventilator modalities are available (including HFOV), but we do not perform ECMO or cardiac surgeries.
• We are in the process of establishing an outpatient sedation service.

Position Requirements

• Must be Board Certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (not just board eligible).
• A minimum of five years of post-fellowship experience at the attending level in a busy PICU is preferred.
• For the Medical Director role, candidates should demonstrate leadership skills and relevant experience.
