Registrar - Intensive Care (ICU) - 2027

Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026. The Alfred Department of Intensive Care is a 68‑bed unit that treats approximately 4,000 patients per year. It provides Victorian state services for heart and lung transplantation (including paediatric lung transplantation), short‑ and long‑term mechanical cardiac device, extra‑corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), burns and hyperbaric medicine. It also offers services for adult trauma, HIV and bone marrow transplantation (autologous and allogeneic) and other surgical and medical subspecialties as part of a quaternary referral centre. The ICU is accredited for two core years of training as stipulated by the College of Intensive Care Medicine. An extensive consultant‑led education program includes protected weekly teaching sessions for registrars to develop technical and non‑technical skills, exam training, journal club, simulation, bronchoscopy and echocardiography training. We are recruiting registrars for the Intensive Care Unit at the Alfred Hospital, and for CICM accredited rotations at other health services. Key responsibilities include coordinating the day‑to‑day work of the unit, supervising junior medical staff and managing their duties. The role is designed to provide exposure and experience enabling the doctor to progress toward specialist training requirements of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM).
