Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantBanyan Search is searching for a Senior Accountant to join a well-established finance and accounting team supporting a stable and growing organization. This role will take meaningful ownership of core accounting functions and play an important part in the monthly close and financial reporting process.The position is well-suited for a detail-oriented accounting professional who values precision, discretion, and well-controlled processes, and who also enjoys improving how things are done. You will work closely with a collaborative team focused on maintaining strong financial integrity, sound controls, and continuous refinement of accounting operations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead core components of the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reportingOwn designated accounting areas (lease accounting, fixed assets, investment activity, and bank reconciliations)Assist on Tax Compliance and tax-related mattersReview, analyze, and validate financial data; investigate variances and resolve discrepancies with complete supporting documentationIdentify and implement opportunities to strengthen controls, streamline processes, and enhance reporting accuracySupport internal and external auditors while reinforcing a strong control environment across accounting operationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)CPA designation or active pursuit strongly preferred5+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated process improvementExposure to Tax compliance/accounting in a public accounting firmExperience in multi-entity or complex organizational structures, particularly in growing organizationsStrong proficiency in accounting systems and enabling technologiesInsurance or financial services experience is a plusHigh level of discretion, professionalism, analytical rigor, and collaborative approachCandidate must be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship requirements.
