Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric PACU RN for a pediatric hospital setting requiring OR RN licensure, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Details

• Pediatric PACU unit providing pre- and postoperative care to patients from birth to 18 years, with some patients up to age 25 cared for based on diagnosis
• Supports a wide range of surgical specialties including cardiothoracic, dental, dermatology, endoscopy, GI, general surgery, hematology/oncology, nephrology, neurology, OB/GYN, oncology, ophthalmic, oral/maxillofacial, organ transplant, orthopedic, ENT, plastics, podiatry, and urology
• Schedule consists of 3x12-hour day shifts, variable days Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM
• Possible on-call requirements for weekends and nights
• Must cover 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals based on unit needs
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license required, with active OR license required for consideration
• Valid state license preferred at time of submission
• BLS and PALS certifications required; specialty certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years current experience in pediatric ICU, PACU, sedation, or ED required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, respiratory and ventilator care, chest tube management, pre/post-op care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management, neurological assessment, and ICP monitoring
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE, malignant hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment and management, and pediatric medication/reversal agent administration
• Two manager or supervisor references required from within the last 24 months; charge RN references not accepted
• COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Provide pre- and postoperative nursing care to pediatric surgical patients across a wide range of specialties
• Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mile radius restriction
• Returning staff must have been gone at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
• Former OHSU employees or travelers must provide a reference from their previous OHSU supervisor
• Requested time off must be submitted upfront and not exceed 2 weeks
• First-time travelers may be considered with a BSN and other qualifying criteria
