BSW Clinic Float Mammo Tech

As a PRN Float Mammography Technologist, you will provide essential coverage throughout the Greater Austin Region, helping ensure patients maintain timely access to breast cancer screening and diagnostic services. This position supports mammography departments during PTO, vacancies, onboarding, training periods, and other staffing needs.

GAR: They float throughout the GAR which consists of Austin, Buda, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Hutto, Kyle, Lago Vista, Lakeway, Leander, Manor, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Taylor, and Westlake.

Reliable transportation and willingness to travel are important.

PRN: At least 1 shift/week or 4 shifts every 4 weeks; Mondays/Fridays preferred. Shifts can be removed 7 days prior, but the minimum requirements must be met. Shift times vary by department.

For training, 3-5 shifts/week are preferred to fully onboard to the team and the role

Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist I, under a Radiologist's supervision, performs Breast Imaging procedures on patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider for disease and injury diagnosis following established protocols.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Performs high-quality Breast Imaging procedures according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
• Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs. Ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
• Prepare the patient and area for the procedure. Position the patient, adjust immobilization devices, and move equipment into position. Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
• Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
• Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
• Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.

• Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for appropriate care of newborns, pediatric, young adults, adults, and geriatrics.
• Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
• Able to take call, if required.
