IT Telematics Manager

Herc Rentals is a leading equipment rental supplier operating across North America. The Digital Platforms and Innovation team is seeking a Telematics IT Manager to lead the day‑to‑day management of Herc’s digital telematics technologies. Responsibilities Develop and manage telematics digital strategy. Lead, mentor, and coach junior team members. Lead QA efforts for mobile and desktop applications integrated with telematics. Work closely with business stakeholders to develop roadmaps and telematics strategy. Innovate telematics offerings to stay ahead in the marketplace. Create and review requirements and specification documents for telematics systems and related digital platforms. Maintain telematics digital solutions according to SLAs and defined KPIs. Liaise between IT and internal business stakeholders to capture, support, and translate their needs. Facilitate product ownership, prioritize enhancements, and provide input to development teams in continuous innovation cycles. Act as a subject matter expert and source of knowledge to enhance customer experience and meet requirements. Execute a growth plan to maximize opportunities for Herc Rentals telematics digital services. Support new product offerings and digital transformation initiatives. Provide analysis and metrics to enhance performance and improve current and future product features and offerings. Represent the Herc brand in a professional manner. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree. 4 to 8 years of experience in technology solutions related to construction equipment, fleet, telematics, or logistics. Strong IoT background and/or experience in telematics/fleet management applicable to the construction equipment or related industry. Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills with a polished professional presence. Strong project management skills. Understanding of basic telecommunications. Knowledge of telematics OEM technologies including API management and firmware upgrades. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment. Meet critical deadlines for high‑visibility projects and work constructively under pressure. Highly organized, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented with follow‑through. Proficiency with standard business tools such as MS Office (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word). General AWS/cloud architecture knowledge is helpful. Understanding of mobile apps and technology is helpful. Pay Range Based on qualifications.
