Director Of Events
Lawn Club is seeking a high-caliber Director of Events to lead our robust event sales and production business. This is a "heavy-hitter" role for a seasoned professional who thrives at the intersection of high-level commercial strategy and meticulous operational execution. In the two-plus years since Lawn Club's opening, our event business has grown rapidly. We now host 1,200+ events annually, ranging from complex corporate experiential activations to high-touch milestone social events. In this role, you will steer the department driving that exciting growth. You'll be a "player-coach" - overseeing a multi-disciplinary team while also selling directly to clients, particularly for the larger and more complex events that are drawn to Lawn Club for our unique offering.
Essential Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Department Leadership: Architect and manage a multi-disciplinary team - including Sales, Coordination, and Operations - overseeing the full talent lifecycle from recruitment and training to strategy and execution.
- Direct Selling: Develop relationships with top clients and sell-in large-scale and other revenue-driving events throughout the year.
- Strategic Sales Management: Own an eight-digit annual team revenue target by driving outbound prospecting, implementing KPIs, and engineering new market-responsive event offerings and sales collateral.
- Revenue Optimization: Maximize per-event profitability through bespoke upselling and cross-selling strategies, while collaborating with leadership and marketing to refine and promote Lawn Club's competitive positioning.
- Operational Mastery: Oversee the technical execution of 1,000+ annual events, ensuring "white-glove" standards through precise Runs of Show, floorplans, catering logistics, and vendor management.
- Execution & Compliance: Manage the end-to-end "nitty-gritty" of event logistics, including client budgets, timelines, insurance (COI), and NYC-specific permitting processes.
- Client & Agency Relations: Cultivate high-level partnerships with corporate clients, event agencies, and milestone event planners to build long-term brand loyalty and retention.
- Executive Reporting: Act as a strategic partner to company leadership, providing real-time data-driven reports on sales performance, client satisfaction, and operational improvements.
Qualifications
- Experience: 7 to 10 years of leadership in event sales and production within high-volume environments, with a proven track record of managing $10M+ in annual revenue.
- Market Mastery: Deep expertise in the New York City hospitality landscape, including large-scale experiential agencies, corporate meetings, and high-touch social markets (e.g., Bar/Bat Mitzvahs).
- Operational Depth: Comprehensive knowledge of complex event production, including technical floorplans, A/V, custom build-outs, and sophisticated catering service standards.
- Leadership: 5+ years of experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Business Acumen: Expertise in budget management, contract negotiation, and the use of CRM tools (Tripleseat preferred) to drive data-driven sales strategies.
- NYC Regulatory Knowledge: Proficient in navigating New York City permitting, TPA requirements, and insurance (COI) compliance.
