To maintain the professional quality of our work, we adhere to government auditing standards issued by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The Metro Auditor is seeking a Senior Management Auditor to their team. In this role you will plan and conduct complex performance audits to achieve identified audit objectives, develops comprehensive reports of findings and recommendations. As the Senior Management Auditor you will:
- Serve as a project manager that will organize, direct, monitor, integrate, and evaluate work performed by audit staff or consultants.
- Prepare audit plans; outline analytic path to achieve audit objectives; review laws, policies, best practices, regulations, contracts, and previous audit reports; schedule and arrange audits.
- Collect information; interview appropriate parties; identify and interview experts in field of study.
- Collect data from electronic databases, manual records, surveys, and/or questionnaires; conduct complex data analysis.
- Write and organizes memoranda and other working papers to document interviews, results of analyses and other research conducted.
- Draft reports that summarize analyses of complex management issues, discusses management weaknesses, and recommends solutions to issues or problems identified in the course of audit.
- Understanding of governmental auditing standards; organizational, operational, and performance research and analysis.
- Understanding of program evaluation methodologies, public administration, and public contracting financial analysis and forecasting; financial/statistical/comparative analysis tools, techniques.
- Ability to formulate computer software appropriate for sophisticated statistical analysis and data management, and project planning and management.
- Ability to use sophisticated statistical, spreadsheet and database software to maintain data and conduct analyses.
- Understanding and ability to analyze complex operations, financial and organizational issues, and problems to evaluate alternatives, and reach sound, logical, fact-based conclusions, to make recommendations.
- Apply governmental audit standards to audit work conducted understand, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local laws, including Metro's Charter and Code.
- Ability to administer surveys and questionnaires.
- Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports, correspondence, and other documents appropriate to the audience.
- Outstanding writing ability that clearly, concisely, and convincingly; summarizes complex ideas and data to prepare presentations including appropriate graphic displays.
- Exercise expert independent judgment within broad policy and procedural guideline.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, department directors, representatives of other governmental agencies, and others encountered in the course of work.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public or business administration, public policy, statistics, auditing, or related field.
- Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in performance, financial or similar auditing and/or research; or
- Any combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
- Experience working in a public agency
- Professional certification(s) including CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
