Role Overview

We are looking for a Backend Developer to develop, optimise, and maintain scalable backend systems. This remote role requires expertise in server-side development, database management, and API integrations, with a focus on delivering high-performance applications for users across the Asia-Pacific & Japan (APJ) region.

The ideal candidate will have experience in cloud-based environments, microservices architecture, and modern backend frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend applications.
Design, implement, and optimise RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
Work with relational and NoSQL databases to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
Implement security best practices, authentication, and data encryption techniques.
Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps, and product teams to deliver seamless integrations.
Optimise backend processes for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years of experience in backend development.
Strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, Java, or Go.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
Proficiency in database management (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB).
Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
Understanding of API security, authentication (OAuth, JWT), and data encryption.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and DevOps practices.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Nice to Have

Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis Pub/Sub).
Knowledge of serverless computing and event-driven architectures.
Exposure to automated testing and test-driven development (TDD).
Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment in backend environments.
