The Program Manager (A) leads the planning, execution, and delivery of program initiatives, ensuring they align with organizational objectives. The Program Manager (A) supports the daily administration of assigned programs within the department and assists with implementing initiatives effectively. The incumbent focuses on delivering quality programs to university faculty, staff, and other key stakeholders and acts as a point of contact for communication between leadership, faculty, students, and staff.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Supports their leader with managing assigned program components and preparing documentation and reports.
Establishes, maintains, and reports on program effectiveness, ensuring the programs aligns with the objectives.
Assists with managing program budget by monitoring expenditures.
Stays abreast of market trends and legislation impacting program functions.
Verifies, organizes, and prepares grants, procurement, and other program-relevant documents.
Coordinates logistics for program events and activities.
Partners with other departments and external entities to increase program awareness
Identifies new needs and emerging issues and develops innovative programs, initiatives, and resources.
Coordinates communication to the broader community through social media and the website.
Manages both student and professional staff to ensure that goals and output are aligned with the office mission.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
Knowledge of business and management principles.
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Exceptional writing skills, including knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules are essential.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff.
Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs, events simultaneously.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with students from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented populations.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing a team of personnel.
DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
1. Provide leadership, oversight, and assessment for all undergraduate research programs and initiatives.
2. Contribute to visioning, strategic planning, and daily operations of the office in alignment with institutional goals.
3. Direct the planning and execution of UGR-sponsored events, such as the annual Research, Creativity, and Innovation Forum.
4. Advise students on defining research interests, securing faculty mentors, and applying for internal and external research opportunities and funding.
5. Lead application and selection processes for UGR-sponsored opportunities, ensuring equitable access and clear communication.
6. Establish systems for ongoing student check-ins to monitor progress, resolve challenges, and collect data.
7. Serve as co-advisor to UConnect , assisting with programming, the schools/colleges advisory committee, and supporting any organizational needs.
8. Build and sustain cross-sector partnerships with schools, research centers, nonprofits to expand opportunities for undergraduate researchers and creative endeavors.
9. Lead multi-stakeholder initiatives, projects, and grants (SPARK, FGLSAMP, Summer Research Programs), ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, clear communication, and timely delivery of outcomes.
10. Conduct outreach across UM colleges and departments to assess needs and understand how research and creative endeavors are defined in different disciplines; use these insights to connect students with resources and develop new program opportunities.
11. Identify opportunities for funding or collaboration that advance the office’s mission.
12. Assists with proposal conception, writing, budgeting, and submitting proposals, working with partners to ensure adherence to deadlines.
13. Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting for research initiatives, maintaining student records in accordance with funding agency and university policies.
14. Manage grant budgets, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring accountability and alignment with program goals
15. Direct strategic communications for digital and print platforms, including newsletters, social media, website, marketing materials, and presentations
16. Maintain current knowledge of the professional and academic requirements for the various health professions.
17. Assists students initiate a UDR file, codes students in the university system, and provides student access to any resources they may need.
18. Oversees the day-to-day programmatic operations, including scheduling appointments, responding to inquiries, phone calls, walk-ins and overseeing student activities.
19. Develops and implements strategic initiatives and policies to enhance the advising and mentoring programs in UGR.
Lead assessment and evaluation efforts, including faculty and student surveys, data analysis, and reporting; translate findings into actionable program improvements
21. Oversees comprehensive advising programs, workshops, student organizations, and events to educate and inform students about various career paths, admission requirements, application processes, and professional development opportunities both in pre-health research.
22. Reviews and implements relevant technology tools to support and enhance the advising and management processes in pre-health.
23. Supports integration of advising practices into the College's student success platform (i.e. Navigate or any other success platform the university may use)
24. Provides leadership on the development of appropriate pre-professional advising service models and activities.
25. Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to develop joint initiatives, such as research opportunities, internships, and fellowships to support the holistic development of all undergraduates.
26. Stays updated with current trends, developments, and changes in graduate and professional school education, including admission requirements, emerging careers, advancements in healthcare education, and standardized testing (e.g., MCAT,GRE) policies/ procedures and their impact on undergraduate students.
27. Identifies research funding opportunities to support office initiatives and student programs.
28. Develops and administers surveys to collect data to evaluate programs in Pre-Health.
29. Manages the preparation of reports, presentations, and proposals related to student programs in Pre-Health for internal and external stakeholders.
30. Analyzes trends from data to make data-driven informed decisions about programming.
31. Stays updated with current trends in pre-health research to communicate and implement best practices to advising and office staff.
32. Manages strategic communication including electronic newsletters, social media, and office website.
33. Serve as the primary administrator for the Pre-Health Website.
34. Assist with recruitment, training, and supervision for staff, ensuring their ongoing professional development and adherence to best practices.
35.Train and supervise Federal Work-Study student employees, delegating tasks that support programming, communications, and office operations.
Department Specific Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline.

A minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
