Registered Nurse - Cardiac Observation Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

The shift schedule includes various options:

• 3 x 12-hour shifts on Days (0600-1830, 0700-1930, 0800-2030)

Call requirements include Saturday and Sunday on a rotational basis, approximately every six weeks.

The registered nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit provides high-level care for patients pre and post procedures in the Cath Lab. Responsibilities include evaluating assigned patients, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care, and assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

• Admit and assess patients prior to procedures.
• Prepare patients for Cath procedures, including charting pre-procedure checklists and IV starts.
• Prepare patients for Cardioversions (CV) and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE).
• Recover patients following catheterization with conscious sedation.
• Assist in and document bedside procedures including Cardioversions and TEEs.
• Discharge patients with appropriate teaching and documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current RN license (Arizona or compact state).
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Experience in PACU, ICU, telemetry, Cath Lab, or surgery center is preferred and considered on a case-by-case basis.
