Job Description

Senior Architect, Technology I, AbbVie Inc., Mettawa, IL. Hybrid (3 days in office & 2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation on all phases of application programming across varied platforms & computing environments, including host-based, distributed systems, client-server, software, hardware, & database tools.
• Develop architecture & design for new platform capabilities, build proofs of concept, & demonstrate solutions & obtain approval from stakeholders.
• Establish & enforce design standards; conduct audits to ensure adherence; review design & code to meet acceptance criteria.
• Define & establish release &deployment strategy, including configuration management, release management, code branching, & CI/CD pipeline.
• Manage & govern solution design & technical architecture for Snowflake, Gen AI, & AWS products.
• Serve as principal architect, generating technological proposals, & leading efforts.
• Conduct formal technical research & define adoption process to solve business problems & improve patient experience.

Qualifications

Must have a BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Electronics, or other quantitative field & 5 years as a Data Engineer & Architect.

Of experience required, must have 5 years:

i. spearheading design & deployment of robust & secure data architectures leveraging EMR Hadoop & Spark within the AWS ecosystem;

ii. engineering & developing applications using object-oriented & functional programming languages using Python or Scala, adhering to advanced software engineering & architectural principles;

iii. engineering resilient batch & real-time streaming architectures utilizing Apache Spark;

iv. implementing sophisticated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub or Azure DevOps, & optimize data pipeline & workflow operations with tools including Airflow or Autosys; &

v. working in a matrixed organizational structure, preparing written & oral presentations to peers & stakeholders.

Of experience required, must have 2 years:

1. architecting data solutions within AWS, employing services including S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, API Gateway,Lambda, RDS, & IAM, for optimized data operations; &
2. establishing comprehensive standards, guidelines, data modelling principles, governance frameworks & best practices for SQL databases using Redshift or Snowflake to ensure data integrity, security & consistency.

Of experience required, must have 1 year:

i. preparing data reporting using Qlik, Tableau, or Power BI; &

ii. developing Generative AI applications using Langchain & Llama Index, RAG, GraphRAG, & agent-based chatbot solutions.

Work experience may be gained concurrently.

Additional Information

Salary Range: $193,325.00 - $236,500.00 per year.
