Registered Nurse - RN - ICU Full Time Days

Position Summary Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital is a comprehensive medical and surgical acute care facility serving the Brevard County Space Coast. The 119‑bed hospital offers advanced technology and expertise in specialties such as cardiovascular care, emergency care, orthopedics, and surgical services. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and participates in specialty registries to improve patient safety and quality. The role focuses on administering patient care in an acute care setting where patients receive active treatment for injuries, illnesses, or post‑intervention care. The nurse must demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to support patients requiring complex assessment and high‑intensity interventions. Responsibilities Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgement to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies. Utilize information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions. Identify and prioritize information to take immediate, evidence‑based, patient‑focused action. Monitor and adjust specialized equipment, including intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, ventilators, and oxygen pumps. Respond to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol. Observe, monitor, and assess patients’ conditions; recognize serious situations and call a physician or take preplanned emergency measures when a physician is not immediately available. Assess patient needs and develop or revise individualized plans of care, evaluating progress toward expected outcomes. Show respect for diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and patients. Advocate for patients and families. Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit or department. Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or nurse clinician when required. Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to effectively plan and manage the unit/department. Act as a role model for staff and support the hospital and nursing department’s goals and strategies. Interpret developmental and lifespan principles to identify age‑specific needs. Coordinate care and delegate appropriately to team members. Document patient care in a consistent manner that meets all required regulatory standards. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of unit equipment. Prioritize patient care continuously in accordance with evidence‑based practice standards. Practice effective problem identification and resolution. Delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members as appropriate. Communicate relevant information about patient condition or unit concerns to other healthcare team members. Provide compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and families. Acknowledge legal issues and patients’ rights. Collaborate with the education department and nursing leadership to support new team members and students. Maintain reliable attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other statutory standards. Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Contribute to the knowledge and skills of others and to the continuous improvement of health‑care practice. Participate in or lead unit‑level and/or organizational committees focused on nursing practice and performance improvement. Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice. Practice efficient use of supplies and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Attend staff development in‑services, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings. Partner with nursing leadership to identify professional development needs. Assume responsibility for one’s own continuous education and development. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit or department. Maintain a current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license. Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Hold ACLS, NRP, PALS, or TNCC certifications for certain areas (NRP required for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Require one year of experience unless approved by AVP level or above. #J-18808-Ljbffr
