Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years in psychiatric nursing preferred, 5 years of experience strongly recommended License: Active RN License Certifications: Crisis Management Training Certification, BLS Must-Have: - Crisis Management Training Certification administered by CPI or equivalent - 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in behavioral health. The role involves working with geriatric adults with multiple medical comorbidities. Patients may require total care, and experience in medical-surgical and psychiatric nursing is beneficial. Common patient diagnoses include dementia, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder with medical comorbidities. Responsibilities include facilitating therapeutic groups and managing patients under involuntary and voluntary status. Experience with restraints and seclusion is important. If floated to other units, responsibilities will not include taking assignments or documentation. Assistance may involve sitting with a patient, answering call bells, or taking vital signs. Experience with geriatric and dementia care is strongly preferred. Familiarity with medical-surgical nursing is helpful.
