Job Description

This role focuses on performing scheduled and heavy maintenance on King Air aircraft, including inspection, modification, and sheet metal work at a depot-level environment. You ensure aircraft safety and reliability by inspecting parts prior to installation, completing structural and systems work, and operating and maintaining all required ground support equipment. The position includes regular domestic travel to support maintenance missions and offers the opportunity to grow into a permanent role with a stable, high-retention team.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance on King Air aircraft, ensuring all work meets regulatory and safety standards.

• Inspect aircraft parts and components for damage, wear, and conformity prior to installation or modification.

• Conduct heavy maintenance activities, including structural repairs and depot-level work on aircraft.

• Fabricate, modify, and install sheet metal components on aircraft structures as required.

• Carry out aircraft modifications in accordance with technical data, maintenance manuals, and engineering instructions.

• Operate and maintain all required ground support equipment safely and efficiently.

• Document all maintenance actions accurately in accordance with applicable procedures and guidelines.

• Collaborate closely with the director of maintenance and fellow A&P mechanics to coordinate workload and ensure mission readiness.

• Support domestic travel missions, typically 10–14 days on the road at a time, performing maintenance at various locations.

• Adhere to established schedules while remaining flexible to adjust hours and travel based on mission needs.

• Follow all safety protocols and best practices in a hangar and field environment, maintaining a clean and organized work area.

• Participate in rotation for structural mechanic travel assignments, contributing fairly to shared travel responsibilities.

Essential Skills

• Active A&P license or equivalent aircraft maintenance license, with A&P strongly preferred.

• Approximately 3 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, including heavy maintenance and structural work.

• Hands-on experience with King Air aircraft, PT6 engines, or equivalent turbine engine platforms.

• Proficiency in sheet metal fabrication, modification, and installation on aircraft structures.

• Experience performing depot-level maintenance and aircraft modifications.

• Ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance, or current active secret clearance.

• Valid U.S. passport and eligibility for domestic and OCONUS travel.

• Willingness to travel approximately 10–25% of the time, including trips of 10–14 days on the road.

• Ability to operate and maintain ground support equipment safely and effectively.

• Strong attention to detail when inspecting aircraft parts for damage and compliance.

• Capability to work first shift hours with occasional overtime and schedule flexibility as mission needs require.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a hangar environment on King Air or similar aircraft.

• Familiarity with PT6 engine maintenance or similar turbine engines.

• Comfort working in small, highly collaborative teams with a director of maintenance and other A&P mechanics.

• Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members during maintenance and travel assignments.

• Adaptability to changing mission requirements, schedules, and travel demands.

• Commitment to high-quality workmanship and adherence to established maintenance procedures.

Work Environment

You work primarily in a hangar environment focused on King Air aircraft maintenance, with access to the necessary ground support equipment and tools to perform heavy and depot-level work. The typical schedule is first shift, generally between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with overtime only as required and efforts made to limit extra hours. The organization is willing to flex schedules to support mission requirements, providing a balance between operational needs and personal time. Travel is an integral part of the role, with assignments typically lasting 10–14 days on the road and totaling roughly 10–15% of the year, and may occasionally reach up to about 25% travel; structural mechanics rotate through these travel missions so each team member contributes their share. You work within a small, cohesive team that includes a director of maintenance and another A&P mechanic, fostering close collaboration and clear communication in a professional, safety-focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fayetteville, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $52.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
