Provide orthopedic evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting to a walk‑in orthopedic urgent care setting. Perform comprehensive musculoskeletal assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and development of treatment plans. Order, interpret, and review diagnostic imaging and laboratory studies as appropriate. Perform in‑office orthopedic procedures within scope of practice, including injections, splinting, casting, bracing, and wound care. Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment options, injury prevention, and post‑visit care instructions. Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, radiology staff, and clinical support teams to ensure high‑quality patient care. Accurately document patient encounters and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR). Support efficient patient flow in a fast‑paced walk‑in orthopedic care environment. Provide coverage at Long Ridge Medical Center in Stamford, CT during evening and weekend hours. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 PM–8:00 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM. Requires prior orthopedic surgery, orthopedic urgent care, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal medicine experience. Responsibilities Clinical Care: The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. They obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review orders for diagnostic tests, formulate and manage patient treatment plans, perform procedures, prescribe treatments and medications in accordance with institutional and state guidelines, and may function as first or second assistant on operative cases within scope. Patient Education & Psychosocial Support: Educate patients/families on care and recommended or available resources, provide psychosocial support to patients and families, and collaborate with supervising physicians. Information Management: Ensure appropriate documentation within hospital and regulatory requirements, protect information from unauthorized access. Quality Management: Demonstrate high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care, ensure compliance with patient related healthcare regulatory requirements. Professional Development: Continuously engage in projects that maintain and advance professional competency, serve as clinical resource for new staff, report safety events, collaborate on research, quality assurance and performance improvement projects. Qualifications Education: Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program. Experience: Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required. Licensure: Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, DEA License when indicated.
