Job Description

Recruitment for a full-time instructor to teach in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program for adult students in the College and Career Readiness department at Roanoke-Chowan Community College. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Job Responsibilities

• Availability of teaching hours varies between 20 and 25 hours weekly and may be combined with non-instructional duties.
• This position is an in-person teaching position that can be moved online, possibly if the college requires it.
• Provide effective instruction to students online and/or in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance.
• Ensure teaching and working environment (classroom, lab) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, and functionality.
• Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, testing records, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines.
• Teach and develop the English speaking, reading, and writing skills of our adult ESL students.
• Learn all policies and procedures of the department and abide by them.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, ESL, or a related field
