Mid Java Developer Location: Hybrid – On‑site in Columbia, MD. On‑site presence required for a minimum of three days per week with flexibility to report up to five days per week based on project or business needs. Build More Than Software - Build the Future Peraton is seeking a Java Developer to help build Web and backend application/services for a credentialing/case management system using Java/Spring-based REST APIs and a Web 2.0 framework. The role involves developing next‑generation customer engagement systems for federal service agencies and supporting the Department of Homeland Security. The ideal candidate will bring experience in Java development, and should be passionate about solving complex technical challenges. Day to Day Work Responsibilities Support full life‑cycle development of large enterprise Java applications. Develop, enhance, and support a high‑availability, enterprise‑scale Java application. Perform data analysis and develop logic for integrating and reconciling complex data sources. Design and implement clean, responsive user interfaces and workflows. Support mobile application development and ensure modern, scalable code standards. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and develop best practices. Design and implement modern, intuitive user interfaces and data reporting tools. Analyze, reconcile, and consolidate multi‑source data. Collaborate in an Agile environment with continuous integration pipelines. Contribute to mobile application development and cross‑functional team goals. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of IT experience, or associate's degree and 7 years of experience, or high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years of experience. US Citizenship required. Must have an Active Secret clearance to be considered. 5 years of recent demonstrable experience developing and implementing enterprise applications using React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Spring Boot. 2+ years of experience with Java development tools such as Eclipse and Git/GitLab. Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years of experience developing and implementing software solutions to build enterprise applications adhering to Agile principles. 1‑2 years’ experience using Redux. Knowledge of database schema design, Microsoft SQL Server, and Transact‑SQL. 3 years of work experience with Linux/Unix shell scripting (KornShell, Bash, C shell). Knowledge of JSON Web Token. Knowledge of Drools, a Java‑based Business Rule Management System. Knowledge of Jakarta Persistence API (JPA), Object/Relational Mapping, Spring JPA, and Hibernate. Previous work in a large‑scale Federal IT program. Target Salary Range $80,000 – $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by factors such as scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and geographic location. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
