Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a teaching hospital's Neuro Intensive Care Unit
• Care for neurological patients requiring critical care, including CVA/acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, and post-neurosurgery cases
• Estimated patient ratio of 1:1-2
• 13-week assignment with day/night shift rotation on a 4-week rotating schedule
• Shifts are 3x12 hours, either 7:00 AM-7:30 PM or 7:00 PM-7:30 AM, totaling 36 hours per week
• Requires working every other weekend
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Epic EHR system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required include IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Additional relevant skills include arterial line management, central line care, EVD and lumbar drain management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN reference is acceptable for the second, but coworker references are not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neurologically complex patients, including post-craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury cases
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract, either by traveling to an in-state location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet if located far from Ohio
