Director, Engineering. HVAC & Mechanical

AbbVie

Director of Engineering leading HVAC, mechanical systems, and building management strategy for AbbVie's capital investment portfolio. Provides senior technical governance, standards deployment, and project execution support across new facility builds, capacity programs, and infrastructure solutions globally.

Responsibilities

Establish and deploy HVAC, mechanical, and building management systems standards across strategic capital projects
Provide technical leadership for new facility builds, capacity programs, and technology platform deployments
Define design strategies for HVAC zoning, environmental control, utility systems, and operational readiness
Drive resolution of technical issues and escalate decisions with material safety, quality, or compliance impact
Build engineering capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of project delivery practices

Requirements

Senior engineering leadership experience in HVAC and mechanical systems design
Proven track record managing strategic capital projects and facility investments
Deep knowledge of building management systems, environmental controls, and facility interfaces
Experience establishing engineering standards and governance frameworks across organizations
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with operations, quality, and project teams
Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing facility requirements and compliance standards
