About the Role:

The RN Behavioral Health position is dedicated to providing comprehensive nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges across diverse clinical settings. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions tailored to support patients' behavioral and emotional well-being. The nurse will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans that promote recovery and resilience. Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing degree.
• Experience or clinical exposure in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong understanding of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and nursing interventions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN-BC) or equivalent.
• Experience working in inpatient or outpatient behavioral health settings.
• Advanced training in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to behavioral health.
• Continuing education in trauma-informed care and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify patient needs and risks.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols.
• Provide crisis intervention and support to patients experiencing acute behavioral health episodes.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
• Document patient progress and maintain accurate, confidential medical records.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care and update treatment plans.
• Advocate for patient rights and promote a safe, therapeutic environment.

The RN Behavioral Health utilizes clinical assessment skills daily to evaluate patient mental status and identify care needs accurately. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and compassionate care delivery. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities enable the nurse to respond promptly to behavioral crises and adjust care plans as necessary. Medication administration and monitoring require attention to detail and knowledge of psychopharmacology to ensure patient safety. Additionally, proficiency with electronic health records supports accurate documentation and facilitates seamless information sharing among care providers.
