Key Responsibilities Manage a patient assignment of 5:1 ratio on a high acuity trauma surgical floor. Perform comprehensive assessments and prioritize care for patients with traumatic injuries, post operative needs, and complex neurological conditions. Administer medications, wound care, IV therapy, and pain management as ordered. Monitor for complications such as infection, DVT, pressure injuries, and respiratory compromise. Collaborate with physical/occupational therapy, case management, and social work to coordinate discharge planning. Receive complete nurse to nurse handoff from ED nurses and admitting unit staff. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR. Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition; initiate appropriate interventions and elevate as needed.
