Job Medical Assistant SJHC Primary Care

Job Title

This position provides assistive care to patients. The incumbent facilitates the efficient delivery of patient care, supports the professional role of the licensed staff, and provides support and assistance as directed by licensed staff in rendering basic healthcare to the patient. This position also assists with clerical functions as a multi-skilled auxiliary worker. This position provides direct patient care and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures, reporting patient concerns, performing lab tests, assisting with procedures, monitoring and cleaning examination rooms, answering telephones, assisting with clerical functions, attending mandatory education, and performing other duties based on department needs.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required include availability to work variable shifts, ability to perform essential job functions, demonstrated phlebotomy skills, human relation and communication skills, proficiency in specialty skills, and the physical ability to handle long periods of standing, moving, and lifting.

Qualifications

The required qualifications include current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential, and one of the following certifications: Clinical Medical Assistant Certification through NHA, Advanced EMT certification, Paramedic certification, National Certified Medical Assistant certification, Registered Medical Assistant certification, Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry credential, Certified Medical Assistant certification, or NRCMA - Medical Assistant certification.

Qualifications (Preferred)

The preferred working conditions and physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, exposure to infectious diseases, and handling potentially dangerous contaminated bodily fluids, blood, used needles, and other contaminants.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements include carrying, climbing, color determination, crawling, lifting, listening, manual dexterity, near vision, pulling and/or pushing, reaching, sitting, speaking, standing, stooping and crouching, and walking.
