ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a  Research Intelligence Specialist to support our intelligence, media monitoring, and narrative development efforts. This role serves as an early warning system for emerging stories, cultural conversations, media narratives, and public sentiment trends that may impact our strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, highly analytical, and constantly consuming information across news, social media, policy discussions, and public discourse. You should enjoy identifying what matters, separating signal from noise, and translating complex developments into actionable intelligence.

This position will support both proactive research initiatives and rapid-response assignments, ranging from monitoring breaking news events to conducting deep-dive investigations on specific topics, individuals, organizations, policies, or emerging issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor major national and international news sources, social platforms, podcasts, influencer conversations, and emerging digital trends throughout the day

• Identify the most important daily news stories, narrative shifts, and trending topics relevant to organizational priorities

• Track how stories evolve across traditional media, social media, influencers, advocacy groups, and public conversations

• Detect emerging risks, opportunities, misinformation campaigns, and narrative vulnerabilities before they gain momentum

• Support the development of daily intelligence briefings, narrative updates, and strategic recommendations

• Conduct rapid-response research briefs during breaking news events and developing situations

• Produce concise research summaries and briefs that help leadership quickly understand complex issues and determine strategic responses

• Execute deep-dive research projects on assigned topics, including geopolitical events, public figures, organizations, policy issues, cultural trends, historical context, and media narratives

• Analyze audience behavior, sentiment trends, engagement patterns, and public opinion signals

• Monitor competitor, stakeholder, activist, and media activity to identify emerging developments

• Translate research findings into actionable messaging recommendations and content opportunities

• Collaborate closely with strategists, content creators, communications teams, and leadership to support decision-making and execution

• Maintain ongoing awareness of geopolitical developments, media environments, and public discourse trends that influence organizational objectives

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Background in Political Science, Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Intelligence Studies, Public Policy, History, Data Analytics, or a related field

• Strong news judgment and demonstrated ability to identify which stories are strategically important

• Experience conducting open-source research and gathering information from multiple sources

• Familiarity with media monitoring platforms, social listening tools, analytics dashboards, or research databases

• Ability to quickly digest large volumes of information and synthesize findings into clear insights

• Excellent written communication and briefing skills

• Strong critical thinking, pattern recognition, and analytical abilities

• Comfortable shifting between rapid-response assignments and long-form research projects

• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines

• Curiosity-driven mindset with a strong desire to understand emerging issues, trends, and public conversations
