A Step Ahead Counseling Center is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work remotely while making a tangible impact in the lives of individuals grappling with trauma. As a critical part of our mental health workforce, you will be responsible for providing specialized mental health care that addresses the unique needs of trauma survivors.

Work Environment\nThis position is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in your work setting while still feeling connected to a team of professionals committed to trauma-informed practices. Your work hours will generally fall between Monday and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required to meet the needs of our patient population. This role supports a collaborative culture where therapists engage in continuous learning and are encouraged to share insights and strategies that enhance the quality of care.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed assessments to evaluate patients' personal histories and identify appropriate therapeutic approaches. \n
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that prioritize trauma recovery, aiming to enhance resilience and promote holistic wellness. \n
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate patient healing. \n
- Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions, guiding clients in processing trauma, developing effective coping strategies, and fostering emotional healing. \n
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care and enhance the treatment experience for patients. \n
- Offer crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring patient safety and emotional stability. \n
- Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, offering insights into coping mechanisms and available resources for ongoing support. \n
- Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards. \n
- Participate actively in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing professional development focused on trauma-informed care methodologies. \n
- Stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in the field of trauma therapy to ensure the highest standard of care. \n
In this role, you will work primarily with individuals affected by various forms of trauma, including but not limited to PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Your therapeutic approach will be centered on understanding each patient’s unique experiences, fostering a strong therapeutic alliance, and delivering tailored interventions that empower them on their healing journey.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. \n
- Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York State. \n
- Strong knowledge base regarding trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities. \n
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, exhibiting a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to therapy. \n
- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations, ensuring patient safety and care quality. \n

- At least 2 years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting, preferably with trauma survivors. \n
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other digital therapy applications. \n
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. \n
We offer a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a strong salary, our compensation package includes:
