Travel RN - Med/Surg - NeuroAmerican TravelerPeoria, Illinois, United StatesAssignment type: travelShift: NightsLength (weeks): 13$2,347.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med-Surg night shift position requiring prior travel and Level 1 trauma unit experience.DetailsAcute care Neuro Med-Surg unit within a 54-bed department (some semi-private rooms)Patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, general neuroscience, and some medical overflow casesNurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 days, 1:5-6 nights12-hour night shiftsEvery other weekend (Saturday and Sunday, both shifts) and every other holiday requiredNo call or standby requirementFloats within the general unit rotation; if floated outside the general unit, only performs skills within competency alongside a trained nurseUses EPIC EMRHouse-wide telemetry with Phillips monitors; nurses are not required to read their own stripsRNs required to titrate drips, including heparin gtt based on PTTHigh flow oxygen used occasionally for stable COVID patientsCharge nurse and house supervisor coverage 24/7; charge nurse only takes an assignment if unit is short-staffedPatient care techs/aides present with ratios of 1:9-10 days/evenings and 1:10-12 nightsRequirementsActive IL RN license requiredBLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum 1 year of RN experience requiredPrior dedicated neuro unit experience requiredLevel 1 trauma center experience requiredHeparin drip titration experience requiredPrevious travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be consideredNegative drug screen required for all panels (OSF is a Drug-Free Campus)Additional InformationProvide direct patient care on a dedicated Neuro Med-Surg unit, including drip titration and neuro-focused interventionsUnit-specific orientation includes 2 days with an educator (computer systems, unit specifics) followed by 1 day with a preceptor caring for patientsNo specific scrub color required, but tattoos must be covered while on duty and only ear piercings are permittedCOVID vaccination is not required for considerationLocal rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility; no radius restriction on eligibility
