About the role We are seeking a proactive, schedule-adhering, and detail-oriented Production & Materials Planner to join our Supply Chain team, supporting both daily operations and New Product Introduction (NPI). The main objective of this position is to support, validate resources and support material movement across various factory cells, including machining, heat treat, surface finish, outside processing, assembly, receiving inspection, shipping, and receiving. The Production & Materials Plannerworks closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Production teams, and Material Buyers to ensure timely sourcing and procurement of materials, components, and services that meet product requirements and uphold high standards for quality, value, and performance. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support a diverse portfolio of both existing and new products within a dynamic and high-quality manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Utilizes MRP to release work orders supporting the Master Production Schedule, manages work orders to meet service level objectives, keeps data current, coordinates with buyer/planner for purchased part shortages, and performs back flushing of work orders. Oversees movement of rejected material to MRB area or returns to vendor and completes required inventory transactions in the ERP system. Maintains inventory accuracy by developing standard procedures, ensuring timely material transactions, validating material locations, and reclassifying inventory as needed. Prioritizes, analyzes, and drives resolution of material shortages impacting production schedules. Leads production readiness activities by ensuring material availability, resolving constraints, and coordinating daily execution of the production plan. Coordinates material flow activities with material handlers to support production requirements. Generate and manage work orders for outside processing and follow up with vendors on delays. Updates MRP planning parameters for manufactured parts to support lean objectives. Coordinates with buyer/planner on cost reduction projects. Analyzes capacity and workload requirements and recommend actions to support production demand. Monitors key operational KPIs and drive corrective actions within assigned areas. Leverages ERP, Power BI, and business system data to identify trends and improve operational performance. Identifies and drives process improvement for transactional processes. Shares best practices with Italian counterparts. Follows department standard work and maintains electronic supplier files. Identifies and resolves problems promptly. Gathers and analyzes information using Lean Thinking, proposes solutions and supports implementation. Writes clearly and informatively, presents numerical data effectively, and prepares reports as requested by management. Maintains a clean and neat workstation. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience & Education A bachelor’s degree in business management, Logistics, or Supply Management is preferred, or an associate's degree with a minimum of two years of experience or, Over five years of experience in material planning within a mid-volume discrete machining and assembly business. CPIM certification is a plus. Experience in a machine shop environment. Experience with implementing and managing kanban processes. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting daily requirements. Knowledge and experience with ISO 9000 quality systems. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with project teams.
