Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains all closed medical records
• Responds to requests for medical records
• Pulls records as requested by staff including daily pulls for appointments
• Files documentation presented by clinical staff
• With appropriate, signed request for information, copies records upon appropriate request for billing, legal services, or medical records requests
• Request historical records from other organizations according to policy
• Knows standards for medical records maintenance and ensures compliance with all ADP and Joint Commission requirements
• Tracks information needed to meet medical record standards, auditing the records and ensuring the records are complete before they are closed
• Keeps supervisor informed of problems or issues; monitors supplies needed
• Performs all other duties as required or assigned

Education and Experience:

• Medical Records or job-related field certification preferred; Associates Degree in job-related field preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with medical records preferred
