Farmington, NH POSITION DESCRIPTION HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, to provide leadership and supervision in administering the educational program of Farmington High School in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law. Job Goal: To provide curricular leadership, program development and improvement, building oversight and as well as in professional staff development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervisory responsibilities including evaluations of Teachers and Staff.

Farmington, NH POSITION DESCRIPTION HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, to provide leadership and supervision in administering the educational program of Farmington High School in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree or higher
- State of NH Certification Endorsement for Principal
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level
- Self-starting and works independently
- Works productively with colleagues at all levels
- Develops and implements projects.
- Knows applicable federal and state laws regarding education.
- Communicates effectively with staff, students and parents both verbally and in writing
- Manages time and organizes schedule, environment, and projects effectively
- Understands instructional community structure and maintenance
- Focuses on distributive leadership and collaborative culture
- Exercises a high degree of discretion and confidentiality for personnel and other sensitive information
- Models solid pedagogy, broad curricular understanding, and data-driven improvement strategies
- Differentiates instruction based upon staff and student learning styles
- Versed in high school curriculum and concepts
- Knows and applies best practices in administration, program evaluation, and staff supervision.
- Engages in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervisory responsibilities including evaluations of Teachers and Staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops and administers school programs consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.
- Maintains school climate and high standards of student conduct, enforcing discipline as necessary and assuring due process rights of students in accordance with state law and district policy.
- Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events as school and district representative.
- Ensures that Board policies and procedures pertaining to the high school are implemented and followed.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and reporting for all student activities, attendance and records as required by law.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Maintains active relationships with students, parents, and other community members.
- Works with the District Curriculum Director to coordinate the work of school staff and program leaders to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices.
- Directs staff to conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and works with teaching staff to adapt instructional methods to fit students' needs, including students with special needs.
- Devotes a majority of administrative duty to understanding and improvement of instruction and its delivery and assessment
- Coordinates with the central office in recruitment and selection of employees, the proper maintenance of employee personnel files, the administration of collective bargaining agreements, corrective action, and other human resource issues.
- Organizes and conducts regular meetings with teachers for continuing development of instructional techniques.
- Involves staff in the evaluation of programs and the planning of new programs.
- Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement, and continued employment.
- Encourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting educational research.
- Organizes and manages the budgetary and financial affairs of the school consistent with school district policies and state/federal law.
