Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year ICU RN experience (2+ years preferred) License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: - 1 year ICU RN experience - BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only) Description: ICU RN position in an acuity-adaptable unit managing different levels of care. Flexibility to adjust based on patient census. Patient-to-nurse ratio is usually 1:3-4. Patients remain in the same room for care management. The unit primarily serves oncology patients, focusing on post-surgical care, sepsis infections, and pain management. The average daily census is approximately 14, with 24 rooms available. Utilizes a Pyxis medication system and EPIC documentation for record-keeping. SBAR communication standards are practiced for effective handoffs. Float to inpatient units and occasionally to the emergency room is required. Weekend shifts are required every third week. No on-call shifts are part of this position. The role includes working closely with an interdisciplinary team which consists of IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Skills desired include experience in managing multi-system organ failure, administration of blood products, and understanding of various medical protocols. Experience in a teaching hospital, community hospital, long-term acute care, or trauma-level facilities is preferred. Certifications in NIH and OCN are preferred but not required.
