This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification. Nature of Work This position assists in managing the Accounts Receivable (AR) Section of the Office of Finance (OOF). The AR Section is responsible for all SHA Accounts Receivable billing and collection of approximately $64 million annually. This includes third party billings relating to complex projects, accidents, rental, logo, force account, outdoor advertisement, and the newly implemented Miss Utility and unauthorized signs removal programs billing. This position also assists in managing the aging and collection of receivables, numerous fiscal reconciliations, and the CCU process. MDOT offers a generous and competitive benefits package. Minimum Qualifications Education: A bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three (3) credit hours in auditing. Five (5) years of experience examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems, records, and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles to include three (3) years performing advanced duties in the areas of cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting, or bond and loan accounting. Notes Candidates may substitute a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing, for the required education. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974, will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required general accounting experience. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of the required general experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
