Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid schedule, combining remote work with in-person collaboration. Following an initial period of on-site training, this position offers the opportunity to work from home while maintaining regular connections with colleagues in the office.

Candidates must be able to commute to Madison, Wisconsin, for in-person meetings, and other on-site needs as required.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Underwriting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the underwriting team, including accountability for risk selection, service delivery to all levels of customers, and management and development of the underwriting team members. The Underwriting Manager will interface with the sales team, external customers and independent insurance agents to facilitate the annual renewal process for existing clients and conduct risk assessment for potential new clients.

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or closely related field.
2. 5+ years of relevant experience in health insurance setting, with an emphasis on Health Management Organizations (HMOs) experience.
3. 3+ years of management experience.
4. 3+ years of relevant experience in working with health insurance quotes/renewals preferred.
5. Strong analytic and strategic thinking skill set.
6. Strong leadership skills to bring stakeholders together.
7. Demonstrated business acumen, including broad health care experience.
8. Ability to influence business decisions and directions for initiatives.
9. Strong knowledge of health insurance market dynamics.

27. Ability to travel to various work sites. Incumbent is expected to provide personal transportation. Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver license if the employee is operating a motor vehicle.

30. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required. Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation requirements. Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
