About the Role We’re hiring a Director, Employment (US) to provide expert legal guidance on US labour and employment, employee equity, and workplace compliance matters across Nscale’s US operations. In this role, you will report to the Senior Director, Legal (Employment) based in the UK and sit at the center of critical cross‑functional work across Legal, the People team, and US business leaders. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior management, helping the business navigate employment issues with practical, business‑aligned counsel while building scalable frameworks that support a growing US footprint. This is a highly visible opportunity to shape how employment law strategy is applied in a fast‑moving organization. Your work will help Nscale stay compliant, make informed strategic decisions, and build the legal and HR foundations needed to support continued growth. What you’re doing Advise senior management, business teams, and HR partners on a broad range of US labour and employment law matters. Partner with internal stakeholders to develop employment strategies that align with business goals and legal requirements. Support strategic decision‑making by providing clear, practical guidance on employment‑related legal considerations. Monitor federal and state labour and employment law developments across the US. Assess the impact of legal and regulatory changes and recommend necessary updates to internal practices. Draft and maintain US employment templates to support consistent and compliant employment processes. Build scalable employment frameworks that support Nscale’s US operations as the business evolves. Support US employment‑related disputes and investigations. Coordinate with outside counsel to obtain local legal advice where needed. Manage outside counsel activity to ensure appropriate scoping and cost‑effectiveness. Act as a key legal point of contact for relevant HR leaders and other business stakeholders. Provide day‑to‑day guidance to business and functional teams on employment matters. Partner with the wider Legal team to ensure consistency with broader legal strategies and objectives. Conduct training sessions for US HR teams, managers, and employees on labour and employment law compliance. Strengthen collaboration between Legal, People, and business leaders to support practical, risk‑aware decision making. About You Minimum 8 years PQE gained across a law firm and a multinational company Qualified lawyer with a strong track record in US employment law Experience advising on labour and employment, employee equity, and workplace compliance matters Proven ability to manage external advisors and lead coordinated employment law projects Experience supporting transformation, reorganisation, and related employment activities in a global, multinational environment Track record as a strategic business advisor in a highly visible and fast‑moving organization Strong ability to build trusted partnerships with HR, senior management, and business leaders Excellent communication skills with a partnership‑oriented approach to navigating employment matters Demonstrated sound judgment, integrity, and a risk‑based decision‑making mindset Proactive, resilient, and adaptable, with a strong blend of operational flexibility and strategic leadership What we can offer you At Nscale, you'll find a collaborative, supportive, and innovative environment where your contributions spark real impact. Actual compensation may vary based on job‑related factors such as skill set, experience, education, and location.
