Quality Supervisor - Manufacturing

Position Description Harmon, Inc. POSITION DESCRIPTION You are responsible for ensuring that all fabrication, assembly, and glazing operations produce curtainwall components that meet design, dimensional, and aesthetic requirements. Act as the front‑line authority for product quality, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and customer standards throughout the manufacturing process. Manage daily operations on the shop floor, including leading inspectors, enforcing process controls, resolving nonconformances, and driving continuous improvement to reduce rework and scrap. Manage and sustain the quality assurance and quality control plan for site and projects. Serve as the site quality metric owner and key quality partner and liaison between operations, field, manufacturing, and engineering. Responsibilities Lead the utilization of quality resources within the plant, allocating quality techs to appropriate areas such as fabrication, assembly, etc., to represent Harmon’s needs. Engage and motivate employees to enhance quality procedures, exhibit positive behavior that improves line flow, and collaborate with other staff to develop innovative ideas. Display extreme ownership qualities, acting as a leader who makes decisions based on Harmon’s greater good and objectives. Train new and current employees, providing hands‑on training to quality techs and quality leads so they can apply what they have learned in day‑to‑day tasks. Actively assist in culture building, ensuring an equitable and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued, and participate in the Culture Committee to help define and create strategies for Harmon’s organizational culture goals. Use quality charting processes to prioritize activities, review data‑based metrics such as First Pass Yield, Defect Pareto, and control charts, and provide guidance on repetitive or impactful issues requiring action. Generate corrective action requests for customer complaints and repetitive defects, coordinate and utilize lean tools (A3, RPS, 8‑Step, etc.), investigate and resolve quality incident responses as needed based on severity or repetitiveness. Lead and support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product defects, and communicate investigations and resolutions for customer complaints. Collaborate with other sites, leadership, and employees to identify best practices, lead site Tier1 and Tier2 quality MDI meetings, attend facility MDI meetings and corporate quality meetings as requested. Under project launch, understand customer and industry requirements for quality and finished product, understand the customer’s specifications for each product type or job, adjust job‑specific quality plans, support quality processes, create visual aids, work instructions, and storyboards to prevent problems. Ensure that key processes within the manufacturing site are followed, manage the site’s layered process audit structure, promote continuous improvement, and develop best practices for high‑quality project flow. Review and analyze quality tests and standards for enhancements, create reports, monitor and manage non‑conformance, rework, and related quality metrics, steer site actions to achieve site quality targets. Interact with project consultants during inspection visits, manage equipment calibration, verification, and proper maintenance of inspection and testing equipment. Participate in and drive company continuous improvement efforts, including kaizen and structured problem‑solving, and motivate employees to participate in improving their workplace. Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Quality. Minimum of 5+years in manufacturing quality, ideally in curtainwall, façade, precision fabrication or assembly, or ETO. At least 2+years in a leadership/supervisory role. Strong knowledge of mechanical inspection methods, tolerances, and finishes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Familiarity with ISO9001 or QMS standards. Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred. Key quality partner and liaison experience between operations, field, manufacturing, and engineering teams.
