Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a small, highly collaborative engineering team working on copper Ethernet cabling systems and hybrid fiber/copper solutions.

\n

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a hands on, broad technical scope and thrives in a dynamic, fast moving development environment. The successful candidate will contribute across the full product lifecycle—from concept and analysis through testing, documentation, and field support—acting as a technical generalist with depth in electrical engineering fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n

Technical Engineering & Development

\n

\n
• Support the design, analysis, and validation of copper Ethernet cabling systems, including twisted pair performance characteristics (impedance, insertion loss, crosstalk, return loss, etc.)
\n
• Contribute to the development and evaluation of hybrid fiber power (HFP/FMPS) and powered communications systems, including power delivery, protection, and integration considerations.
\n
• Assist with electrical modeling, simulation, and lab measurement of cables, connectors, and system level performance.
\n
• Participate in failure analysis and root cause investigations related to electrical and signal integrity issues.
\n

\n

Testing & Validation

\n

\n
• Conduct and document laboratory testing (electrical, thermal, environmental, and EMC related tests).
\n
• Use network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, data loggers, and related instrumentation.
\n
• Support development and execution of test plans aligned with industry standards (TIA, IEEE, IEC, UL, NEC, and others as applicable).
\n

Cross Functional Collaboration

\n

\n
• Work closely with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and compliance teams.
\n
• Support interaction with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and field personnel.
\n
• Assist with preparation of technical documentation, drawings, reports, and internal design reviews.
\n

\n

Continuous Learning & Support

\n

\n
• Stay current with evolving Ethernet, cabling, and power delivery technologies.
\n
• Support Product Development related activities and product qualification efforts.
\n
• Support standards development through participation and contribution.
\n
• Support the industry through peer reviewed publication.
\n
• Provide technical assistance during prototyping, pilot builds, and early deployments.

Minimum Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
\n
• 3-5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
\n
• Experience in Circuit analysis, Electromagnetics and signal integrity, AC/DC power fundamentals, RF principles is required.
\n
• Ability to work effectively in a small team, multi-disciplinary environment.
\n
• Willingness to be hands on in both lab and office settings.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

\n
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred.
\n
• Exposure to structured cabling systems, Ethernet PHYs, or high speed copper links.
\n
• Familiarity with: Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Time domain reflectometry (TDR), Power electronics or fault managed power concepts.
\n
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for data analysis.
\n
• Awareness of TIA, IEEE 802, UL, NEC, or IEC standards.
\n
• Curious and adaptable a technical generalist comfortable wearing multiple hats.
\n
• Comfortable moving between analysis, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
\n
• Motivated by real world engineering problems rather than narrow specialization.
\n
• Interested in working close to the hardware and understanding how systems behave end to end.
\n
