Level III Trauma Center
375 Licensed Beds

Unit Information

MSICU: 40 beds
CVICU: 10 beds (no specific CVICU experience required)
PCU: 40 beds
2R PCU Obs: 18 beds (can increase to 27 total beds when overflow occurs)
CCU: 30 beds
Medical: 89 beds
Surgical: 55 beds
Flex Unit: 9 beds (consists of PCU and MS patients)
Inpatient Rehab: 47 beds across two floors
ER Holding Unit for patients waiting on a bed

Experience Requirements

ICU: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
PCU/PCU ER Holds: Minimum of 2 years of PCU experience
Med-Surg: Minimum of 2 years in an acute care setting
First-time travelers are welcome

Note: ICU does not handle craniotomies, major traumas, or major cardiothoracic cases.

Respiratory Compromise
Sepsis
Renal Failure
Bleeding Disorders
General Medical/Surgical Patients
CHF (Congestive Heart Failure)
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
Pneumonia
General and Orthopedic Cases

Medical-Surgical:

Oncology: Neutropenic Patients, Post-Operative Care
General Medical-Surgical: Post-Operative Cases, COPD, CHF, Sepsis, DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), AKI (Acute Kidney Injury), Dialysis, COVID-19 related cases
Ortho: Total Joints, Post-Surgical Patients, General Medical Overflow
Palliative Care: General Medical with occasional surgical cases, including COVID-19

Rehab:

Neuro: Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), Multi-Trauma, Post-COVID, Post-ICU
Ventilator and Tracheostomy Patients are accommodated on the unit

Patient Ratios

ICU: 1:2
PCU and CCU: 1:4 (depending on acuity or patient discharge)
Medical and Surgical: 1:5
Rehabilitation: Team Model of 2:8 (RN, LPN, Tech)

Required Licenses and Certifications

ICU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
PCU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Med-Surg: BLS, NIHSS

General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1
