Posting Number: 0601330 Position Title: Custodian - 1st Shift FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Type: Full-Time Staff Work Schedule (hours/dates): 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Sunday - Thursday Position Type: Staff Department: Building Services Job Summary/Basic Function: Provide custodial services, furniture movement, event support services, and other support operations to our campus community and guests. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision to meet required deadlines. Ability to work independently, resolve problems and function as a member of a team. Ability to lift and move heavy furniture and operate bulky and heavy equipment. Physically capable of lifting 40 -50 lbs. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedure. Preferred Qualifications: Previous custodial and customer service experience. High School diploma or equivalent preferred. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources. The anticipated hiring or recruitment hourly rate for this position is $18/hr. Hours worked outside of first shift hours do qualify for a shift differential. Physical Demands: Stamina & Mobility: Continuous standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling for the duration of an 8.5-hour shift to clean large areas like the gym floor, balconies, locker rooms, and staircases. Heavy Lifting & Carrying: The ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy loads (typically up to 75 lbs). This includes moving heavy trash receptacles, handling bulk pool chemicals or CO2 canisters, and lifting event tables and chairs. Repetitive Motions: Frequent repetitive arm and hand movements required for sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing stainless steel, wiping benches, and scrubbing the pool deck. Climbing & Reaching: Routinely climbing stairs (such as the rear staircase and bleachers), ascending ladders to change light bulbs, and reaching overhead to dust fixtures or wash high glass.
