Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for an inpatient acute care setting in State College, Pennsylvania. This role is crucial in providing direct and indirect patient care, supporting the nursing team, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from various acute conditions.

The successful candidate will work closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care to a diverse patient population. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and contributing to the overall well-being of individuals during their hospital stay.

This position requires a compassionate individual with strong observational skills, a commitment to patient safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced acute care environment. Candidates must possess prior inpatient acute care experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide essential direct patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, and skin care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as ambulation, feeding, dressing, and undressing.
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output as directed.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests, relaying critical information to the nursing team.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring proper handling of personal belongings.
• Maintain a safe and organized patient environment, ensuring call bells and essential items are within reach and hallways are clear.
• Perform Bedside Glucose (BSG) testing and pre-operative shaving as directed and trained.
• Distribute drinking water and nourishment to patients.
• Administer sitz baths and hot/cold applications as directed by the nursing staff.
• Support indirect patient care activities such as stocking supplies, delivering specimens and requisitions, assembling charts, and cleaning instruments.
• Document care provided, patient complaints, and observations accurately and promptly.
• Assist with equipment set-up when trained and directed.
• Answer telephones and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
• Report any changes in a patient’s physical or mental status to the team leader or charge nurse immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and unit operations.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of recent inpatient acute care experience.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
