Job Posting DescriptionPosition SummaryPerforms audiological diagnosis, case coordination and treatment for a wide variety of cases, including those who are medically complex. Serves as a consultant and educator to interns, externs and other clinical staff, performing research or administrative functions as assigned.Please provide a cover letter with your application. Key ResponsibilitiesObtains case history data by interviewing the patient, family and caregivers, and by reviewing medical records, in order to determine indicators for hearing loss and medical development, social and educational factors which may influence case management decisions. Performs audiological evaluations, including the selection, administration, and interpretation of behavioral and physiological tests of auditory threshold sensitivity including auditory brainstem evoked response and otoacoustic emissions tests, speech detection, speech recognition, auditory perception, and middle ear measures. Performs evaluations for patients, interacting directly with patient and parent to obtain test results and observations.Assists audiologists in evaluating young or developmentally impaired children, working directly with patients and families to gather results and observations. Counsels families on findings, recommendations, funding options, and use of hearing technology. Develops case management plans and prepares reports with recommendations for further services, devices, and communication strategies.Coordinates implementation of case management plan, including communication with physicians, participation in interdisciplinary staffing, telephone and paperwork assistance to the family in obtaining funding for and fitting of hearing technology, coordinating return visits with appointments in related services, and facilitating contacts with outside services.Assists in maintaining efficiency of clinical operations, including day to day schedule coordination, provision of unscheduled services to patients having urgent needs, support to other staff in implementing clinical assignments, maintenance of up to date consignment stock of hearing technology with liaison to manufacturers' representatives; equipment calibration; organization of equipment and supplies.Participates in program development and research related to clinical assignments. Continues individual professional growth by participating in continuing education activities, reading professional journals, mastering use of new equipment and technologies; fosters professional growth of other staff by sharing information gained through continuing education.Plans, implements and analyzes quality improvement monitors on a rotating basis; communicates results to interdepartmental committees; uses findings to assist in modification of existing practices to improve quality of service delivery. Provides training and supervision to graduate student externs, clinical fellows, and new staff members.Minimum QualificationsEducation:Doctoral degree in Audiology or Hearing Science from an accredited program.Experience:Minimum of 4 years of experience in pediatric audiology services.Strong understanding of pediatric audiologic disorders (e.g., otitis media, Eustachian tube dysfunction, genetic-related hearing loss).Basic knowledge and skills in pediatric balance and vestibular testing preferred.Licensure / Certifications:Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or Pediatric Audiology certification from the American Board of Audiology.Licensed as an Audiologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (out-of-state candidates expected to obtain licensure within 45 days of hire).Preferred Skills:Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.Excellent organizational and writing skills.StatusFull-TimeRegular, Temporary, Per DiemRegular Standard Hours per Week40 Pay Range$93537.6-$149656 AnnualOffice/Site LocationWalthamJob Posting CategoryClinicalRemote Eligibility Onsite Only AutoReqId: 84535BRDepartment: Otolaryngology-Audiology
