Mechanical Engineer OpportunityNusano has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer at our West Valley City, Utah, facility. This Mechanical Engineer will be part of our Mechanical Engineering team and will help complete the design and build-out of our particle accelerator-based radioisotope production facility.To execute this project, we are looking to add talented people to the team who are mission-driven, provide diverse perspectives, and have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of pursuits. Expect to work in a fast-paced environment where flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing needs are essential.ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll DoCollaborate with cross-disciplinary teams of physicists, chemists, engineers, and technical support staff to develop and finalize designs for complex new devicesTranslate concepts into detailed engineering drawings, perform design analyses, identify potential problems, and independently or collaboratively develop solutionsManage all aspects of component fabrication, including components that consist of multiple complex piecesInstall, test, commission, and provide lifecycle support for custom equipmentAuthor and maintain procedures and documentation that support the equipment and the stakeholders responsible for its operationDevelop test plans and participate in testing to qualify and evaluate equipment performancePresent project results and designs and respond to questions regarding engineering design and equipment operationWork effectively and cooperatively within a team environmentOnce equipment is operational, serve as a subject matter expert and assist with troubleshooting, repairs, and upgradesGive and receive direction and communicate effectively across all teams within the organizationContinuously strive for the highest level of performanceMaintain a personal safety mindset at the forefront of all workQualificationsMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related fieldFive or more years of related professional work experienceAptitude for assembly work, on-the-fly modifications, and guiding a group of technicians in completing similar workTwo or more years of experience with SolidWorks CAD modelingBasic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Google WorkspaceDemonstrated analytical thinking and the ability to learn quicklyPreferred RequirementsProfessional Engineer license, master's degree, or higher in mechanical engineering or a related fieldExperience designing for and working within radiation environmentsExperience with manufacturing processes, including welding, brazing, machining, and assembly, as well as distributed systems such as water and gas systemsExperience with some or all of the following: kinematics, linear motion stages, robotics, linkages, mechanism design, pneumatics, metrology, precision measurement, inspection, and fine alignmentWorking knowledge of high-vacuum systemsProficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) in accordance with ASME standardsExperience working within a quality program and adhering to quality standardsPhysical RequirementsWork will be conducted in both an office environment and on assembly and production floorsMust be able to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 poundsMust be able to sit for extended periodsMust be comfortable working within radiation environment and or cGMPFrequent computer use requiring repetitive keyboard and mouse operation and manual dexterityAbility to perform hands-on assembly workWork in this environment may involve exposure to hazardous materials and conditions, including high voltage, strong magnetic fields, chemicals, cryogenic substances, and radiological sources.
